I personally prefer Hex Breaker over Judges. Judges is nice, but not as nice as having a Smiter not owned by Diversion.

A couple of those skills are actually interchangeable depending on your build. If you have lotsa hex removal, smite isn't needed, judge's can be taken out, etc. That is a nice basic template to work from though.

Slightly confused. What 'cover enchantment' do you use?
If you see a pattern of being drain enchantment-ed right after you put up Zealots, you can respond by RoF'ing yourself to cover up.

I'm wondering what you would take to cover up.

Faking people out with a RoF or Guardian right after Zealot's doesn't work so well in my experience. They have to be very trigger-happy with the enchantment removal.

I use Vigorous Spirit as a cover, since it's cheap, long-lasting, and can be used as an extra spammable. It can even take Guardian's place if you trust your non-smite monk to be casting that when needed.

I have yet to run an AoE smiter myself, though I have played in builds with them. I am curious as to why people would run Guardian over Draw Conditions.

The impression I have got is that AoE smiters have an excess of energy, so why not put that to use doing something far more usefull than spamming Guardian on a Warrior? Spam Draw, and keep them free of conditions.

Is Draw TOO energy intensive? Brief testing on Isle Of The Nameless suggests not.

This taken into account, here is what I would consider an optimal smiter:

Smite Monk
Monk/Mesmer

Divine Favor: 10 (9+1)
Smiting Prayers: 16 (12+4)
Protection Prayers: 10 (9+1)
Domination Magic: 3

- Air of Enchantment [Elite] (Protection Prayers)
- Balthazar's Aura (Smiting Prayers)
- Zealot's Fire (Smiting Prayers)
- Reversal of Fortune (Protection Prayers)
- Draw Conditions (Protection Prayers)
- Smite Hex (Smiting Prayers)
- Hex Breaker (Domination Magic)
- Resurrection Signet ()

Although I think the idea of a cover enchantment for Zealots is strong, I simply don't think you can viably fit it on the smiters bar. Just get someone else in the build to do it, if possible.

Having played a smiter myself in TA and AB, this bar is optimal with a boon prot backing you. For AB, swap rez sig for prot spirit (<3 a bar with 4 spells that are 1/4 second casts) which provides a nice cover enchant to zealot's. Though the bar has to be re-configured a bit if you are going dual smite for AB and have no backing boon prot. I found myself using guardian very little due to its cast time when smiting off warriors and if you got a boon prot backing you with guardian, then when you ally switch for Air of Enchanting the boon prot can provide the guardian.

Some players use the excess energy for a judge's insight or windborne speed, but the judge's isn't really necessary unless you want to be able to allow your warrior to pressure enemy warriors and rangers with greater ease. The windborne speed can come from a different teammate just as easily.

I'm going to have to disagree here. The reason AoE smiters do well on energy is because of AoE, period. Draw conditions doesn't trigger AoE (because it's not an enchantment) so instead of spamming a 0 energy spell, you'd be spamming a 5 energy spell. Energy may seem like it's no problem, but spamming AoE on different targets, and smite hexing, and using balths aura as often as possible is quite energy intensive. Also the smiter relies on the free damage of guardian and rof when using zealots, as that's the whole idea of the build. With just rof that's ~2.5 seconds per free damage, as opposed to twice that with guardian (although guardian has a longer cast time.)

It's also important to realize you're not just smiting on the warrior. AoE also protects the other monks, and guardian is much more useful to throw on a monk than draw conditions is.

You can cast AoE -> reversal -> reversal -> AoE (this still triggers reduced energy from the first AoE cast). Draw does not have to be spammed, but it increases damage much more than guardian ever would in the face of heavy blinding or crippled on your warrior.

Depends how you're using it. Guardian as a pre-prot on other monks makes sense, but draw conditions on other monks while they are getting spiked saves their life by drawing away deep wound. For a dual smite GvG build, I can see a use for having one smiter with draw and another with guardian.

Dwayna's Sorrow would also make a good cover enchant, kinda like an AoE Vigorous in terms of duration and cost.

i haven't ran it with draw yet but in AB the only thing that keeps me from death is kiting and gaurdian.
i'd even go without hexbreaker before gaurdian.

i know it's pretty worthless to put on a warrior but it's the only thing I have to keep the warriors and ass's off of me

dwaynas sorrow seems good as a cover enchant but it wont have any other benefit than that, a cover enchant. You wont be able to have any points in healing if you want to get the max benefit out of AoE and your smiting skills.
